Valentine’s Day is one of those holidays that can sometimes go uncelebrated, especially when things get busy – and aren’t we always busy? This year we decided to have a family valentines breakfast. Honestly, neither Gary nor I felt like going to Target last night at 9:00pm to get the V-day goodies necessary for our family party, but I’m glad I went. The kids came downstairs this morning and were so excited to see a kitchen decorated with pink balloons and were so excited to have special treats. I’m sure there will come a time when I’ll wish I could make the kids giddy with excitement over a Pez candy dispenser and a Hello Kitty notepad. Don’t you love the Target dollar bin?! That place is a gold mine.
We have FINALLY started decorating our downstairs front room! It only took two and half years and it’s actually starting to look like a room. I’ve been holding out for the Pottery Barn couch and finally decided that if I kept waiting for that to happen Sophia might be in high school before I actually decorate that room. So, we moved up the couch from downstairs and voila – instant inspiration! I went out shopping with Isabella and Timmy (that’s a totally different blog post!) and bought a chair and rug. Love them! Now, I have curtains on my mind. Of course I’m going to make them, so I’m trying to find the perfect fabric. The walls are a challenge too. I want to do something different and colorful. I’m thinking cottage-chik. Is that a design style?

How cool!
The small things seem so small to us, but to kids just the different pancake shape make a world of difference….Happy Valentine’s Day Galvins!
